At West Coast Wine Group, we are committed to sustainability in all aspects of our business, from the vineyard to the bottle. We believe that it is our responsibility to protect the environment and to ensure that our wines are produced in a way that is sustainable for future generations.
To achieve this, we have implemented a range of green business practices, from using pesticide-free herbicides in our vineyards (including those who we source with) to closely monitoring our water usage. We have made small changes such as switching to energy-efficient lighting and significant ones such as transitioning this year to solar energy for our property.
Another way we are working to reduce our environmental impact is by simplifying our packaging. In the past, each of our wines had its own unique style or color capsule. However, we have since moved to a more standardized approach, using the same style of capsule for the majority of our wines. We have also moved from using heavier glass to lighter glass where possible. This has helped us to reduce the weight of our bottles, which in turn has reduced our shipping emissions. Last year, we sequestered 135.6 tonnes of carbon dioxide which is equivalent to 151,000 pounds of coal burned or 347,000+ miles driven by a gasoline vehicle!
We are proud of our sustainability efforts to achieve a more sustainable future. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, conserving resources, all while producing exceptional wines.
